Welcome and thank you for visiting the Website of De Waal Knives.
Brought up in Namibia farming, hunting and fishing I developed a love for a good knife early on.
My dad taught me basic welding, wood working and general do it all skills from a young age to be able to help on the farm and in and around the house. The scene was set..
In 2018 working a desk job I stumbled on to the world of hand made knives on the internet. I made my first knife using files and a friend's cutting torch to heat the steel. In 2019 I attended a knife show in South Africa, met a bunch of amazing people, some who have become friends and mentors, bought a belt grinder and furnace and as they say the rest is history.
Today knife making is more than just a hobby, rather I see myself as a maker in pursuit to create a multi-generational product and something of real value to be there as a companion on all the adventures that may follow.
